In the morning of May 15th, Zhang Tingxin, vice secretary of the Party Committee of CAST (China Academy of Space Technology), met with visiting Minister of Science and Technology of Venezuela, Dr. Hector Navaro.

    The Minister came after the successful launch of the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT-1). Zhang Tingxin gave a warm welcome and introduced to the Minister the general situation of CAST as well as the development of the Venezuelan satellite.

    The Minister expressed his sincere admiration for the capabilities of CAST and his satisfaction with the progress of the satellite. The success of NIGCOMSAT-1 showed the strength of China space and boosted his firm confidence in cooperation with CAST. He stressed that China and Venezuela stand on a firm foundation of trust and friendship as the two sides have witnessed the signing of the Venezuela satellite agreement (VeneSat -1). He hoped both countries could further bilateral cooperation in the future. The Minister visited the AIT center after the meeting.
