Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering (BISEE)




Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering (BISEE), a subsidiary of the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), was founded in 1968. Since then, BISEE has been engaged in system assembly, integration and space environmental testing of spacecraft, which include China’s manned spaceship, telecommunication satellites, navigation satellites, earth observation satellites, lunar exploration satellites, science experiment satellites and recoverable satellites. Meanwhile, BISEE has also been responsible for developing space environmental simulation equipment and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). Up to now, with the team of over 900 employees, BISEE has completed system assembly, integration and space environmental testing of over 150 spacecraft, and covered over 85% domestic market share in spacecraft thermal vacuum chambers. Its products and services have been marketed abroad , in countries such as Russia, Brazil, Pakistan, Venezuela, Nigeria,Belarus,Laos,Algeria and Bolivia.


As a national facility for spacecraft environmental engineering and reliability research, BISEE also prides itself as the premier institute for system AIT activities and the development of environmental test facilities. All sectors are managed and operated under certified and well-established product and service systems, including the Quality Management System of the National Military Standard of P. R. China (GJB 9001B-2009) and the National Occupational Health Management System (GB/T 28000-2001). All the specifications for system AIT activities and development of environmental test facilities are compatible with their equivalent ECSS and MIL-STD specifications. To date, BISEE has won more than 160 national-level science & technology achievement awards. The Chinese government has also awarded BISEE for its contributions to China’s manned spaceships and lunar exploration satellites. The institute owns 280 patents and has registered 7 software copyrights.


BISEE is a chief member of the Structural Strength & Environmental Engineering Subcommittee of the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the Mass Spectrum Analysis & Leak Detection Subcommittee of the Chinese Vacuum Society. It serves as the directing coordinator of Space Environmental Engineering Information Platform and the deputy coordinator of the Cryogenics Engineering Information Platform of the Chinese Aerospace Science Corporation. BISEE is also a member of Chinese Vacuum Society and Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. The Spacecraft Environment Engineering journal released by BISEE is a source journal for Chinese Science and Technology Paper Citation Database (CSTPCD). Each year, BISEE authorizes master’s degrees in the field of human-machine-environment engineering science and doctoral degrees in space environmental engineering.
