Lanzhou Institute of Physics (LIP)

Lanzhou Institute of Physics (LIP), located in Lanzhou, established in 1962, is one of the first directly engaged in the spacecraft development institutes, and subordinated to China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) from 1968.Since then, LIP mainly engaged in providing satellite parts products, satellite application facilities and application services. By the end of August 2015, with a team over 800 employees, LIP has completed more than 100 kinds of important products successfully used in more than 100 satellites and spaceships, with a success rate of 100 percent.

LIP has been developed into a comprehensive research institution, the basic research fields are vacuum technology, cryogenics technology, and five professional research directions, including manufacturing center of space pressure vessel & Surface Engineering technology, space electric propulsion technology, secondary power supply, atomic frequency standard technology, vacuum cryogenics & space science payloads technology. Meanwhile, LIP has developed many aerospace specific products, such as electric propulsion system, space pressure vessels, secondary power supply , high performance atomic clock, etc. LIP also participates in developing new type space payloads which have been used in communications satellites, remote sensing satellites, navigation satellites, scientific experiment,deep-space exploration satellites and manned spaceship series, including electric field detector, space mass spectrometer, lunar sample vacuum encapsulation technology.
